1. The girl was at home with the village when it gets attacked by people in masks, shouting words in a language she doesn’t understand. Thinking on her feet, she grabbed her knife and medicine pouch. Everyone else is trying to kill them but they’re ‘protected’ by something. She quickly runs to the river and cuts off on of the canoes before pushing it into the river. She floats down stream for a bit before she gets out and drags the canoe on land and runs deep into the forest. She’s alone and has to put everything she’s learnt to the test. Soon enough she comes across another clan but doesn’t get too close. She later bumps into a boy from the same clan who’s out hunting. He introduces himself and takes her back to the clan. They’re weary about her but the boy promises that he’ll ‘look after’ her and watch her. Once she gets to know him more whilst they’re out fishing together, she explains about her village’s attack and how something told her to run away. By this time she has a crush on him; he’s four years older. He forms a plan inside his head and shares it with her and together they leave the clan and go back to her village, finding it destroyed except for one child who’s been hiding. He explains what happened and so they go in search. They hear stories about how the people in masks are planning to ‘rule’ man kind with magic. The girl is also told how to use the magic that lies dormant until a ‘switch’ is flicked. She begins to quickly learn magic and uses it to help save the land and also her ‘parents.’ She only finds one and learns that the other’s have scattered across the land and only she and the boy can find them.
2. The girls village is attacked by people brandishing ‘new weapons’ and speaking a language she doesn’t. She tries to run away but gets caught and carted off with the other children of the clan. She’s boarded onto a ship and taken across to a small island near the mainland. She’s then sold to a ‘rich’ man who lives by himself and paid for her with a small knife that was effective in combat as well as everyday uses. The man is quite handsome and roughly twenty-three years old. He takes her to a small area where he explains how she’ll help him cook, hunt, clean, etc. After awhile she begins to like him and he begins to develop feelings for her too. He agrees to take her back to her home clan so long as he can stay with her. She agrees and so they set off. When the get on land, five people attack them and make off with the man. She runs after them but realises she can’t find them. She picks up his knife and promises to find him. (See the last part of number one; except it’s the man she wants to save and it’s only five of them.)
